Insightful article. But I am of the opinion that people in India already own a lot of gold through their grandmother, mother, wife etc, and are typically underinvested in equity. Keeping that in mind, one can still hedge via gold ETFs instead of physical gold.

Agree that there is good competition in the space. But Zomato is not new to such competition. They faced strong competition in the food delivery business from Swiggy and an international company in Uber Eats. Yet Zomato prevailed and is probably number one in food delivery. This experience will come in handy while navigating the competition facing Blinkit. And the Indian market is big enough to allow for multiple winners instead of a winner takes all type of situation.Also, a service like Blinkit makes a lot of sense for densely populated cities where both the husband and wife are working.I only wish Zomato was a bit more cheaper to make it an attractive investment.
